Not that great, but better

Unless you keep your toddler in a cage.. I mean playpen all day, then I would assume your couches have stains on them too?? Don't lie, you know they do. We have a micro suede couch, that... though its only about a year old.. it looks a bit, how should I say.. well loved!!!!

(Don't Judge.. I told you.. well loved)
I have been planning day after day to clean it good, and I just didn't know the best way.. do I consulted none other then... yes you got it, Pinterest!!!!

I found a few guides on how to clean it, and thought I would give it a shot.

Here is what you need:
Rubbing Alcohol
Sponge (either white or the color of your couch)
Dish scrubbing bristled brush (also white)
spray bottle

My suggestion would be to do this during naptime, or late at night, as there is no way I would have been able to get it done with my sweet little "helper" right under my elbow. It also does smell strong of alcohol, so the fumes may be a bit much for them.

I used an old fabreeze bottle that I washed out and left to dry, filled up with alcohol, an then got to spraying. Now, I'm sure you are thinking.. hold up, the problem I have is stains, and now you are adding more liquids to the couch... exactly!!!! Alcohol evaporates very quickly, so it will do much better then water.

Spray on an even heavy layer, but dont saturate. then get out your sponge, and a decent amount of elbow grease and get at it. you should notice some dirt showing up on your sponge, if it gets to be too dirty toss it and grab a new one, you don't want to rub in removed dirt.

Once that is done, let it dry.. takes about 10 minutes, the fabric will feel, dry and mated, thats where the bristle brush comes into play. Start with big circular motions and brush the life back into. You should notice immediately that some stains are gone and others lightened.

While it didn't make them great and the stains unnoticeable, it's much, much better!

(Don't worry the process won't change the color of your couch, first set were at night, these are in daylight)

This make take a few weeks to get the big stains under control, but... Instant gratification makes it all worth it, your couch may smell sterile and remind you of the doctors office, but thats better then reminding you of last weeks snack, or the spilled sippy.

If you try this out on your couch, leave me a comment and let me know how it goes??

I have been wanting to try this, but have been such a scardy cat! Our micro fiber couches have some total stains on them tho, so I might give it try.

It's amazing how quickly couches show "love" with toddlers around. Have a great weekend!
