Moving...

So we are moving out....

for a few days that is..

A few weeks ago when we had the hurricane our roof leaked... and because following the hurricane were 5 long days of straight rain it didnt get fixed right away. Apparently you cannot send roof repair men onto the roof when it's wet??? I mean come on.. what s the problem :)

So after have a leaked that turned into a a steady stream of water... that soaked the wall, caused some cracks, soaked the carpet.. and kept us up throughout the night emptying buckets of water... we now have a much, much bigger problem..

MOLD

The contractors removed a section of the damaged wall to reveal that all of the moisture had caused mold to grow.. so during the 72 hours of the mold remediation process we cannot reside in our house. Therefore we must move out..

It just so happens that my in laws mansion  house will be empty as they will be on a real vacation, so we are going to be staying there while the work takes place.

While you thought the mold was the big issue in the post... the real problem resides in the fact that my sweet angel girl does not sleep anywhere but in her crib.... which presents a problem for this temporary loss of use in our own dwelling.

We are half tempted to just take the crib apart and take it with us... would that be weird? She hates Pack N Plays with a passion.. and has gotten very close at getting out of them...

so herein lies my question.... how do you help your children sleep when they are away from home... I mean this girl will not even nap at my parents house.... we tried staying the night at my in laws {the house we will be staying at} during the hurricane and she didn't go to sleep until 1:30am... after she pretty much passed out from exhaustion.  And......... would you take the crib with you? I should mention we will be there for 4 days.. and E takes (2) two hour naps a day??

THOUGHTS.... HELP...... SEND STRONG DRINKS

Does her crib have bumpers? My kids wouldn't sleep in the pack n' play for a while because they could see out...so we always creatively move it close to stuff so they can't see out the sides when they are trying to sleep...and I take along their blankets & crib sheets & music to try to make it more like home...they got used to it after a few times...you could try something like that...(obviously I wouldn't take the bumpers tho b/c its unsafe). Praying that she sleeps for you!

Honestly I would probably take the crib but what a pain! A few weeks ago we went camping and I was so nervous that Alivia wouldn't sleep on the pack n play. I just tried to wear the heck out of her so she wouldn't fight it so much. I also took her regular white noise fan and her regular blanket. I also tried to keep it dark. The biggest for me was to try and five her a lot of grace when it took her awhile to get to sleep! Its so frustrating though. I will pray she sleeps really well!

Oh and I also put a regular crib sheet on the pack and play mattress so it would feel normal on her face.

Seriously if she has that hard of a time sleeping elsewhere, I would take the crib. You'll waste more hours trying to get her to sleep somewhere else than the hour+ it'll take to dismantle, move, and reassemble the crib at your inlaws.

Before I read the whole post, I though, "Hmm ... they should try taking her crib". I would do it - it may save you some serious exhaustion while you're there.

I would probably take the crib. If it'll save everyone from exhaustion, why not. :)
