Living in Maryland we are surrounded by waterfront, in fact our county has the most nautical miles on the east coast... lots of our friends have pools as well, we are out on boats alot, and our own community swimming pool...
my biggest mommy fear, over all the others is drowning, so instead of thinking about it forever I need to act on it.. I guess part of me is scared. Someone else will be responsible for my child in the water without swimies, and that scares me.. But, I also realize that it is something that needs to be done. I obviously am not a swim instructor, so I do not feel that anything I teach her would be helpful..
We may be jumping in (if you will) this afternoon and starting with our first lesson.
Have any of your children taken swim lessons, and at what age, and how did they do? Emma will be three in about a month.

Swim lessons is always a good idea!!
My sister is doing the "survival swimming" classes with her kids. Her three year old can completely swim now and her two year old is getting there!
