Spent the giftcard!

I finally spent my Christmas gift card to Victoria Secret. I wasn't sure what I wanted to get however, I had heard a few people talking about how much they like their fold over yoga pants. I jumped online and picked the ones I wanted. I am a classic kinda gal.. so of course I went for the black bootleg with the white fold over panel.

The came in the mail last night and I tried them on.. and well everyone was right... they make your butt look good.. if I do say so myself. 6 months post pregnancy, even though I am only a few pounds away from my pre-preggo weight.. not everything fits the way it used to .. but these, these babies fit great. The other thing I loved is that being almost 6 feet tall... they offered them in extended lengths, which made me very happy.. I'm not really into the high waters look, so I love when stores carry things in longer lengths.

I think it might just break out of my comfort zone and order another pair with a pink panel... they are even on sale.. yipppeee!

Today is the last day!

Today is the last day to enter both of my giveaways

Kick the Shine

You know the feeling, your at a summer cookout wearing your cute shorts, and a plaid spaghetti strap shirt... your hair is looking nice (hmmm kinda feel like Im describing the housewives of the OC)  but your skin is starting feel heavy.. you check it out in the bathroom and realize that you my friend have got the shine.....

We have all been there.. no matter what shine-free makeup you use.. it never seems to be enough to keep you from reflecting the sun right off the sweat on your face. It's usually on your forehead and your cheeks, and tends to resemble the younger 14 year old version of yourself. So what should you do about it???

Working in a Plastic/Derm office I tried my fair share of oil removing clothes, shine free make-up, etc. There is one product though.. that really did work..
OC Eight Professional Mattifying gel

You may have seen this product advertised on TLC 10 years younger, as well as glamour magazine, because it really does work. The name stands for  Oil Control for 8 hours. It works for upto 8 hours continually absorbing the oil that causes your face to shine. It's manufactured byt a great company called Biopelle.. that I truely love. I use so many of their products including the whole line of AFA.. but that is for another post.

You apply this gel in the morning it should be the last step after your sunscreen but before you apply your make-up... It will quickly even your skin tone, and keep your make up base in place. It has micro particles called acrysorb that lock in the oil on your face and keep it invisible to the naked eye until you wash your face at the end of the day, then you just wash away the oil as well.

It will give you a true matte finish for those full 8 hours. Especially on the T-zone where most people tend to complain of excessive oil, that is because this area on the face has more sebaceous glands. When this glands start over producing they drain the color pigments of your make-up causing your skin to look gooey. By applying this product you will notice that your make looks flawless like you just applied your make-up. Its also a great product for people with acne, rosacea, and other skin disorders as it really helps to even out the skin tone.

I couldn't keep this product on the shelves when I worked at the office.. women loved it, and so do I. You only need a small bit of it each day and once it gets smoothed into your skin you really dont even feel it anymore.

OC Eight can be purchased in most skin care studios at your dermatologist's office or from a plastic surgeon. You can also find it at Amazon.com

(These are my true opinions.. I was not paid for this product review, nor is it sponsored by biopelle in any way. This is a product that I truly love and wanted to share with you)

We all want wrinkle free, younger looking skin right?

Having worked for three years as a nurse in a Dermatology & Plastics office, I have tried so so many different skin care, make up, sunscreen, and acne products. You know the things we women spend ALOT of money on and sometimes wish we knew what we were really buying. So I have decided to share some of my knowledge with you all. I will talk over the next few weeks about a few of my most and least favorite products, as well as skin care tips. If you have any questions at all please leave a comment and I will answer them. Remember I'm not a doctor, just a nurse.. even though I'm sure all the nurses out there know it's usually the nurses who know more about the products/drugs then the doctors  but I did go through alot of skin care trainings including:

  • Botox
  • Restylane
  • Pearlene
  • Raidiesse
  • Microdermabrasions
  • IPL treatments
  • Chemical Peels
  • Laser Hair Removal
  • Photo Therapy
  • Accutane
  • Psoriasis Treatments
  • Infant Eczema
  • Skin Cancer including Malignant Melanoma, Squamous Cell Carcinoma, Basal Cell Carcinoma, Actinik Keratosis.

I have had many of these treatments my favorite being Laser hair removal.. No more razor burn during bikini season baby! We all no matter our age are looking for healthy, wrinkle free skin right..... Hopefully I can help save you some money and get you to the right product for your skin type, skin disorder, budget.

If you have any skin questions go ahead and leave them.

Show some love

Head over to Sprout Baby Food's FB page and vote for them in the Cribsie Awards... then email them and let them know they you did... they will be giving away a case of food a week!

That day is over...

Well, after the month of anticipation and wonder.. the surgery day was upon us, and it's now over. The surgeon said it was actually not as bad as he expected. There was meniscus damage.. which he repaired while he was in there, but the ACL which was a bit loose but not torn did not need to replaced....again. The day went great overall. Well except for when I walked out to my car to pump and realized I had the pump and the bottles and the tubes but not attachments....thank goodness Tar-jay was right down the street...

Hubs is doing ok... and getting lots of rest... im sure that may have something to do with a little friend called Oxycodone...

I of course have put the nurse hat back on again... and am giving my full what attention is not being taken by my 5 and a half month old. So because of that I may not post as often as I usually do...

Peanut Butter Fudge

I made this recipe for a memorial service luncheon they were having at our church
Because it has dairy in it I can't tell you how it is since I couldn't try it..
However.... I heard it was really good.. if you try it let me know how it tastes
It was SUPER easy to make!

Peanut Butter Fudge

1/2 cup butter
2 1/4 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup milk
3/4 cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar

Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar and milk. Bring to a boil and boil for 2 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove from heat. Stir in peanut butter and vanilla. Pour over confectioners' sugar in a large mixing bowl. Beat until smooth; pour into an 8x8 inch dish. Chill until firm and cut into squares.

Vitamin D

Yesterday, was a weather fluke.... in the middle of February we got a 75 degree, very sunny day. It was crazy... then a cold front blew in it was a friday, and a full moon.... sure glad Im not still working as a nurse because we all know thats when the crazies come out of the woodworks. ...Back to the summer day.. little miss and I met up with our buddy "J" and his mom for a stroll around the park.

Of course this was my first time doing the park scene on a warm day with my BABY... So you could just say I may have overpacked for the occasion a bit.... I had enough toys to fill a 50 gallon trash bag, the camera, a blanket, a stocked diaper bag, ........I THOUGHT I had everything.

As we were walking around, I heard the all to familiar sound... of a small piece of plastic & rubber hitting a hard surface... Im sure all the mom's are now thinking "O-no the paci" Yup you guessed it... and it just so happens that, while packing the entire nursery I completely forgot to refill the zebra print Amy Coe paci holder I have hanging from the diaper bag. Of course, as soon as she threw it out of the stroller onto the walking path.. she cried for it.. and it most likely wasnt going to stop until she got it back...

So I did what every other super mom would have done....I followed the words of my late grandmother... "just kiss it up to jesus".. and then I popped it right back in her mouth...well, after I poured out almost my entire bottle of dasani water over it.... It's just building immunities right?!?!....Don't judge... I mean come on if thats the only dirt that ever makes it into her mouth.. I will be very shocked.

As we walked around the park.. with every other mother in this county, I was getting more and more excited for my friday night date with a good bottle of reisling the weather to stay like this so I can make weekly trips like this to the park with my little lovebug, However I might think about just buying a seasonal pass to the park instead of paying $6 bucks everytime I go.

I am such a people watcher.. When the hubs and I were dating we would love sitting places at the mall and just watching the things people do.. I would always make up stories about the lives of the strangers that walked past us.... "He's freaking out cuz his baby momma just caught him walking around with his new girlfriend"... "Look at that screaming kid.. watch the moms about to offer him a piece of candy if he stops screaming".....Well let me just tell you there is a TON of people watching available at the park when it's full of women.

We walked past the petting zoo and I saw a mother taking like 72 photos of her son standing in front of the fence where the momma cows and calves were at... really lady are you going to make an entire scrapbook about your little boy and a side of beef cow? Actually I can't really talk.. I have already told you guys about my recent diagnosis of ladywhotakeswaytoomanyphotosofherchild. But this isnt about me... its about what I heard this little boy say next... as the baby cow walked over to the mother cow.."Momma look she has stretchy nunnies like you do".... so glad that wasn't me!

Then I saw a mom there who, by the way she was dressed looked slightly out of place, she had on light khaki pants(a park no-no), Etienne Aigner riding boots, a white 3/4 length sleeve shirt, with an Anne Taylor cardigan over her shoulders and tied in the front..really lady are you going to nigh noon tea, or the park.. where there is mud, and rocks, and kids.. O my. I heard her yell to her son and then grab him by the hand and pull him over to the grass.."Tristen.. look how dirty you are, were leaving, let's get in the car.. I told you NOT to get dirty". Ummmm why in the world did you come to the park with a mud magnet four year old boy while there is melting snow if you didnt plan for him to get dirty.. thats like saying your going to take a shower but not get wet. Good thing poor little Tristan didnt spot the mud from all of the melting snow...that feels so weird typing "melting snow" along with "playing at the park"... thats Maryland for ya.

By the time we came home I was so ready to grab my running shoes and hit the trail.. to bad it was getting late. I felt so refreshed after soaking up all of that vitamin D from the sun, getting out of the house after being cooped up in the sub zero degree weather for the past 38 months few months. Sadly the weather didnt stick around today its windy enough to travel mary poppins style and cold enough to put the JJ Cole Bundleme back in the carseat...

Spring please come early!

Baby Food in a bag... GIVEAWAY

Two giveaways in a row???? Since Mr. Policeman's surgery is on Monday I don't know how much I will be on here next week (You have heard of the "man cold".. right??? Well the "Man Injury" is 10x's worse) so I wanted to make sure everything got posted in time.

I'm sure you have noticed from all of the messy face photos, that Baby Sweetpea has been getting into more and more solids... so far we are up to.. Rice cereal, Prunes, Apples, Bannanas, & Pears... the pears are surely her favorite and I'm sure she would eat them until she exploded. Actually the empty bowl of pears are usually accompanied by some tears...

I have posted before about how I have been making all of my own baby food.. except for grains and prunes, and it has been going great... it's super easy, and much less expensive but that's a post for another day. Even though I make her food.. I still like to have some packaged baby food on hand for trips,  or if she's with gammy it's just easier.

So here are the ones I have found that I really, really like.

These portable pouches make feeding on the go very simple. (What the heck am I saying.. feeding on the go & simple should never be in the same sentence... so we will say easier!!!) You just unscrew the cap, squeeze, and feed. I have a few friends who actually give these to their older babies (12-16m) and just let them suck it out of the pouch.. they are great for field trips, or afternoons at the park, or for meltdowns in the car...you know when mom needs a snack... cuz theres no way I would be handing this squishy pouch in the backseat.  Like I mentioned earlier I don t make my own prunes so I have been buying the "Just Prunes" for E!

I have also purchased some Peter Rabbit Organics veggie blends for when we get to mixing different things together... I'm not gonna lie.. I have actually bought the Peter Rabbit Organics fruit blends for myself... I put them into my smoothies, sometimes. But again same concept you just twist em open and enjoy... hmmm now that I think of it, thats the same way I feel about this bottle of Reisling I picked up for the weekend!

A sweet friend of mine gave me a box of Sprout Organic Baby food pouches... I know, I know... I owe her... It was such a thoughtful thing to pass along!
They have starter (basic one ingredient foods), intermediate (Simple Combinations), & advanced (meals w/ texture)... but all in a pouch..and all organic.

it looks like the toy store exploded

I never really thought that we would be able to fit so much stuff into our house, I mean we live in a 3 bedroom CONDO for cryin out loud, with very little closet space. I kinda thought we were already at maximum capacity before we had the baby but now... now there is ZERO room left. However we still manage to keep buying baby toys, teethers, and more baby gear.

Shortly after Christmas we got the Rainforest Jumperoo, and loved it.. little miss has finally learned how to actually jump in, instead of just stand and stare!

We recently got the Fisher Price Fun With Friends Musical Table from CSNstores, and so far we love it. as soon as it came in (just 3 days after ordering it) we pulled it out of the box, there was really no assembly, and the batteries were already installed (O how I love toys that come with batteries). The table can sit right on the ground for sitters, or has attachable legs for standers. Obviously we are still at the assisted sitting phase.. however she is right there, Im wondering when she will sit on her own.. she can do it for a few seconds. I sat it in front of E and you would have thought it was her first time trying cotton candy, she was smiling and laughing, ad hitting all of the buttons.

The musical table has 4 different play areas, a phone, a laptop, a book, and a small piano. Everything lights up, and makes sound. It has many different settings, even one that will teach your child spanish (that's if dora, diego, and handy manny haven't already done so) . It has an ABC learning setting, along with a musical setting. However baby sweet pea is mostly interested in seeing how mater proof it is.. by drooling and sucking on it.

This activity table teaches letters, numbers, colors, shapes, and some early 1st words. However E has made sure the table knows she already has "DaDa" covered! It has over 40 different songs and sounds. I am very happy we were able to get this Activity Table from CSN stores, and excited to see how much fun E gets out of it. The great thing is that since the legs come off it can travel easily too with summer vacay coming up (can you believe it!!!!) and traveling to visit grandparents.

Fisher Price Fun With Friends Musical Table

I was not paid to say any of this, these are my honest opinions after trying the product. I was however given this item (of which I only paid shipping) by CSN stores to review.

I would like to say a HUGE thank you to CSNstores for giving me the chance to review this fantastic product!

Last day to enter

this exciting giveaway!!!!!!

I have been reading her blog for a couple months now and I really, really love it. She is a momma to 2 little daschunds, and a super fun runner!

I'm crying over spilled milk...

Disclaimer: This post will include that about nursing, pumping, and BOOBS...... (I know I know.. gotta write it... who wants you father or father -in-law reading about your breastfeeding adventures)

Let me start this post off by explaining that yes I do breastfeed, and I am very passionate about it.. however I DO NOT get all caught up in the which is best: bottle or breast discussion.. I think everyone must choose what is right for them. Having said that I chose to breastfeed, as im sure you have noticed from reading my other post's that it has not been an easy road, But im sticking with it for now.

I have come pretty close to loosing my milk supply a handful of times when my baby's reflux got really bad and she went on a nursing strike.. I was having a hard time keeping up with the pumping while also trying to keep her calm. So instead of supplementing I used up my entire stash of frozen boobie juice milk. So about 2 months ago I transformed myself into a diary cow  took every opportunity I had to pump and freeze..

I had built up a pretty good amount of milk, I have about 35 bags with 4-6oz in each bag, in my freezer. I was proud of it.. I did that.

I have a real love/hate relationship with my Medela pump 'n style. Its a great double pump that I can even use on the go in the car (um yea I have totally pumped while im driving), however I totally feel like by the time I'm done pumping my lady lumps may drag the floor.

A few days ago I was heating up a bag of thawed milk and realized it smelled horrible, I tried a sip (Don't laugh you know you have tried your too, at least once) and it tasted like sour milk, so I got out another bag, then another.. they all were soured. I had no idea what was going on. At first I thought maybe I had eaten something bad but I opened bags that were stored at different weeks, and got the same result.

So of course I did what any good mothered would do....... I googled it. Because we all know google never lies!!!!! Anyway the search results were loaded with pages about sour breastmilk. All of the pages I was reading said the same thing. The soured smell and taste came from an overproduction on the enzyme Lipase. I  started reading pages from LLL & Kelly mom, on what to do.

Here is what I found out:

Lipase is a naturally occurring enzyme that is found in breastmilk, over time the enzyme will break down the fat in the milk, thus causing a foul, sour, or soapy smell to the milk.
~~~
Some babies will drink bm with excessive lipase in it, but most will not
~~~
Studies are non conclusive as to whether the milk is safe or not for babies to drink after it has turned
~~~
To keep milk from spoiling:
After expressing place in pan on stovetop and scald (until you see little bubbles around the edge.. NOT a boil) the milk then cool, place in freezer bags, then in the freezer.
DO NOT try to scald the milk in the microwave
Scalding the milk destroys some of thimmunological properties and possibly some of the nutrition but not all.
Now please excuse me while I cry and pour my liquid gold down the drain.
You're all I need my love... my valentine.
Its always been a mystery to me,
How two hearts can come together,
And love can last forever.
But now that I have found you I believe,
That a miracle has come when God sends the perfect one.
So gone are all my questions about why,
And i've never been so sure of anything in my life
Oh I wonder what God was thinking,when he created you.
I wonder if He knew everything I would need,
Because he made all my dreams come true.
When God made you, He must have been thinking about me.
I promise that wherever you may go, wherever life may lead you,
With all my heart I'll be there too.
And from this moment on I want you to know,
I'll let nothing come between us, and I will love the ones you love.
So gone are all my questions about why
Oh I wonder what God was thinking when he created you,
I wonder if He knew everythin I would need,
Because He made all my dreams come true.
When God made you He must've been thinking about me.
He made the sun He made the moon,
To harmonize a perfect tune,
One can't do without the other they just have to be together.
And that is how I know its true,
Your for me and i'm for you and my world
Just cant be right without you in my life
 He must have heard every prayer I've been praying
)He must've knew everything I would need
When God made you,
He must've been thinking about me.
(our Wedding song)
Let's just say we pulled an all-nighter
I had a feeling this would happen... Actually I just knew that something that good could only end up being bad.. Yesterday E took her morning nap, and then in the afternoon she slept for two and a half hours... thats right 2.5!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldnt believe it.. I of course went in a few times just to make sure warm air was coming out of her nose...don't judge you know you have done it too... anyways.. she ended up waking up around 4:30... and she goes to bed at 7... yea you guessed it.. NOT A GOOD NIGHT.
Little miss went to bed just fine at 7 didnt make a peep.. until 11 right after I climbed in bed.. and she was side awake... finally got  her back to sleep.. then she woke up at 1a, to nurse, after that was again wide awake.....Not just awake.. but growling.....GROWLING!!!!!!!!! Who does that, girls dont growl. So she pretty much growled herself to sleep.
But then she woke up at 3:30.. again very awake.. I just let her fuss and growl till she went back to sleep, then up again at 5a to nurse....
Man, O Man.. am I tired... VERY tired.
However... It wont ruin my day.. thankfully E's Gammy & Pop, are coming over tonight to watch her... while Mr. Policeman and I go out for a date.... I feel like a giddy schoolgirl... We have only been out on one date since baby girl was born and that was months ago. So I am very excited... especially since his surgery is a little over a week away... who knows how long he will be off his feet after that.
I'm not sure where we are going but I am VERY excited
Pretty Blue Eyes
My New Fav...
Im usually NOT a Lifetime kinda girl.. BUT, this show has sucked me in...
It may have even become my new favorite weeknight show.. O how I wish it was at 9 instead of 10 (yes I go to bed at 10, dont judge)  but thats ok it worth staying up for.
I think I may especially like it having worked in Labor and Delivery.. it brings back alot of fond (and not so fond) memories. Yes there are days I wish I still lived worked in L&D.. and maybe I will go back one day.. but for now I'm living a bigger dream... at home with my lil sweetpea.
O.k. back to the show... So basically its... 24hr non stop cameras filming the Labor and Delivery Unit at Riverside Methodist Hospital. The cameras catch the good, the bad, and the ugly. They show live footage of very smooth births, and also the ones that get out of control, and end in paging NICU. Sometimes I watch it and think ... OMG these crazy people, and then it reminds me of a patient I had cared for in the past,you know the ones who leave you thinking people should have to pass a test before reproducing.  Other times I am teary eyed when they are holding a baby who is only seconds old, as I remember those very sweet first few minutes with my baby girl..
My husband was in shock when I turned to him and said... "I could totally do that again"..... after he picked his jaw up off the floor.. he said... "Are you serious, you just told me no more babies for at least 2 years"....
HA ... let me clear something up... I said I could do the Labor and delivery part.... not the 10 months of pregnancy, back pains, first 6 weeks with a new infant again.... JUST.. the delivery.. though painful as it was (and flippin long.....38 hours of contractions just aint cool)
I really enjoyed that part... the excitement, the emotions.. the feeling of.."WOW.. I just did that.. I grew a person and then gave birth to them....and I have the "seal(s) of authenticity" to prove it....That overwhelming sense of pride and accomplishment followed by the intense love you have for something so new...
So yes.. I could do "that" part again.....
